The VCCC climbing season

The VCCC has a very active schedule of meets throughout the year. A full calendar is available upon login for registered members.

Winter: mid October - mid March

During the winter months, we combine regular Wednesday evening meets at the Aireborough Leisure Centre in Guiseley, with Sunday meets at least twice a month, outside when the weather permits, or at either of Leeds or Ingleton climbing walls. Common winter outdoors climbing venues include Almscliff, Baildon Bank (both gritstone) & Giggleswick (limestone).

Spring: mid March - early June

From mid March onwards & weather permitting, we will move the regular Wednesday evening meets to local outdoor venues, commonly Almscliff, Ilkley Quarry & Baildon Bank (gritstone). Sunday meets will often be held at the same venues, with occasional events at other locations such as Earl Crag & Brimham Rocks.

Summer & Autumn: early June - mid October

All summer & autumn meets are held outdoors where possible. Wednesday evening meets tend to remain local, although we will extend the reach to Ilkely Rocky Valley, Earl Crag and Caley/Chevin Butress (gritstone). Sunday meets at the same venues plus a wider-range of more remote venues, such as Millstone, Stange & Froggatt in the Peaks (gritstone) and Malham and other high peak crags (limestone). There is always at least one long weekend away, often to North Wales, and occasional long days to the Lakes.

How do I join?

Please register on this site as an affiliate VCCC member in the first instance.

After registration, you will be invited to attend one or two VCCC events, prior to joining up as a full member. The tariff for full 2007 membership is £15 pa, including affiliate BMC membership.
